March 4, 1992 – Sydney, Australia:
After winning the 1983 World Cup, India faced Pakistan for the 1st time in the world cup in 1992. Against a strong bowling line up Ajay Jadeja and Sachin Tendulkar had managed to stay on the crease and scored 46 and 54* respectively and giving India a respectable total of 216/7. After being reduced to 17-2, Pakistan failed to get momentum due to a very slow inning by Javed Miandad(40 of 116).
Eventually, Pakistan was bundled out for 173 and lost the match by 43 runs. Javed Miandad jumping up and down on the crease and trying to copy wicket-keeper Kiran More as he was very much involved with him during the match was one of the main highlights of that match.
March 9, 1996 – Bengaluru, India:
India and Pakistan encountered again in the quarter-finals of the 1996 World Cup. In M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, India won the toss and Elected to bat first, India posted a challenging total of 287/8 in 50 overs. Navjot Singh Sidhu’s scored a brilliant 93 and in dead overs, Ajay Jadeja smacked Waqar Younis and raced to a very important 45 runs in just 25 balls. In response, Pakistan started well as openers Aamir Sohail and Saeed Anwar added 84 runs.
Srinath drew the first blood and dismissed Saeed Anwar. Aamir Sohail was cleaned up in a famous rivalry with Venkatesh Prasad when Prasad bowled Sohail on the next ball after being sledged and hit for a boundary. No other batters stayed at the crease and Pakistan bowled out for 248-9 and India registered a famous 39-run victory.
June 8, 1999 – Manchester, England:
1999- Ind vs Pak was special due to the 1999 Kargil war. Tension and emotions were at their peak in the group-stage match at Old Trafford during the 1999 World Cup. India and Pakistan engaged in a thrilling encounter and India beat Pakistan for 3rd time in a row. After winning the toss India batted first and scored 227/6 in 50 overs, with Rahul Dravid top-scoring with 61.
In a rain-affected match, Pakistan’s target was revised to 194 runs in 36 overs. However, they fell short, finishing at 180/9, as India won by 47 runs (D/L method).
March 1, 2003 – Centurion, South Africa:
One of the most iconic clashes between India and Pakistan occurred in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. In a highly anticipated match, Pakistan batted first and posted an emphatic total of 273/7 in 50 overs, after Saeed Anwar hits 101. In reply Virendra Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar star in a style and give India a brisk start.

March 30, 2011 – Mohali, India:
It was the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup, India, and Pakistan faced each other in a much-hyped clash at the Punjab Cricket Association, Mohali Stadium. India batted first and scored 260/9, Thanks to Sachin Tendulkar’s crucial 85 runs and some late fireworks by Suresh Raina.
Pakistan fought hard in their chase as Misbah-Ul-Haq scored a half-century, but that was not enough and the pressure of the chase made Pakistan fall short, ending their innings at 231/10. India won easily at the end by 29-run
and reached the final where they beat Sri Lanka to become World Champions.
February 15, 2015 – Adelaide, Australia:
Defending Champions India clashed with Pakistan again in the group stage of the 2015 World Cup in Australia. Batting first, India set a challenging target of 301/7, with the the help of a charged-up Virat Kohli who smashed a commendable century and scored 107 runs. Pakistan’s reply never gained momentum, and they were bowled out for 224/10, resulting in a comfortable 76-run victory for India. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers as he took 4 important wickets and break the back of Pakistan’s batting.
June 16, 2019 – Manchester, England:
The much anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in the ODI World Cup took place during the 2019 World Cup edition in England. In a rain-affected match, India batted first and scored 336/5 in 50 overs, Rohit Sharma made a fantastic 140 with Virat Kohli who scored a fine half-century guiding India to this fabulous total.
Due to rain interruptions, Pakistan’s target was revised to 302 runs in 40 overs. They never looked in control against Indian bowlers and finished their innings at 212/6, giving India an 89-run victory (D/L method).
Oct 14, 2023 – Ahmedabad, India
The biggest cricket stadium in the world has witnessed total demolition of Pakistan in the presence of more than 1.25 lakh people. Rohit Sharma won the toss and choose to ball on a pitch which is paradise for batters. Pakistan started well with Babar Azam 50 and Md. Rizwan 49. They were 155-2 after 30 overs, but the famous Pakistan collapse was around the corner when Md. Siraz dismissed Babar.
Pakistan was never in the game, and then Kuldeep came into party and took 2 wickets in an over. Rohit brought back Bumrah and he demolished the lower middle order including Rizwan. Pakistan managed only 191 runs.
