The group stage of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is now over and the top 8 teams have qualified for the Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to be played in Pakistan. Although the format is not decided whether it will be in T20 format or 50 over format.
Earlier ICC had revealed that only the top eight teams at the end of the league stage of the CWC 2023 will make the qualification for the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan had already qualified before the CWC 2023 by being the host nation of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Defending champion England was on the verge of being knocked from the Champions Trophy 2025 after their forgettable World Cup journey. However, England managed to qualify for the prestigious event with successive wins in their final two matches in which they beat Netherlands and Pakistan. They finish seventh in the league stage, and avoided the embarrassment.
Afghanistan performed superbly in this CWC 2023 has also qualified for the Champions Trophy 2025 after finishing on sixth position. Bangladesh became the final team to qualify for the Champions Trophy after finishing eighth. Srilanka had a horror show in CWC 2023 and they were knocked out from the Champions Trophy 2025 along with the Netherlands.
West indies which was also not qualified for the World Cup 2023 are automatically knocked out from one of the most anticipated cricketing events.
